Fatal Collision on US 41 in Crofton, KY
Date of News Release: 10/31/2007
Crofton, KY (Christian County) - Franklin B. Bentley age 37 of St. Charles, KY was operating a 2007 Ford Focus northbound on US 41 (also known as Madisonville Street) in the limits of Crofton. Mr. Bentley's vehicle exited off the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Bentley brought his vehicle back onto the roadway. His vehicle crossed both lanes of travel before exiting off the left shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle struck a ditch and a tree causing it to overturn. It then struck a utility pole. The vehicle came to rest on its top off the roadway. The Christian County Coroner, Dorris Lamb, pronounced Mr. Bentley dead at the scene. Mr. Bentley was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. Tpr. Jason Newby is investigating the crash that occurred on October 31, 2007 at 3:00 a.m. The Christian County Sheriff's Department, Crofton Volunteer Fire Department, Hopkinsville Fire Department and the Christian County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
