Stats From Post 2 For September 2007

(Madisonville, KY) - For the month of September 2007, Post 2 reports the following activity:
- Arrested 42 Drunken Drivers
- Issued a Total of 1,585 Citations
- Issued 583 Speeding Citations
- Issued 200 Seatbelt Citations
- Issued 12 Child Restraint Citations
- Issued 909 Courtesy Notices
- Investigated 109 Crashes
- Inspected 3,128 Vehicles
- Assisted 184 Stranded Motorists
- Answered 1,165 Criminal Complaints
- Opened 76 Criminal Cases
- Made 194 Criminal Arrests
**There were three (3) fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in September 2007. Three (3) people were killed as a result of the crashes. Single fatality crashes occurred in Christian, Hopkins and Muhlenberg Counties. Two (2) victims were not wearing a seatbelt and one (1) victim was not wearing a helmet.
Through September 30, 2007, thirty-six (36) people have been killed in thirty-five (35) crashes in the Post 2 District. Nineteen (19) victims were not wearing seatbelts, ten (10) victims were wearing seatbelts, one (1) victim was not wearing a helmet, five (5) victims were wearing a helmet and one (1) victim was a pedestrian.
Through September 30, 2006, thirty-three (33) people had been killed in twenty-nine (29) crashes in the Post 2 District.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other safety violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.
**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
