Non-Injury Collision Involving Tractor-Trailers

Madisonville, KY (Hopkins County) - Paul L. Ousley age 53 of Bardwell, KY was operating a 1998 International box-type tractor-trailer. He was hauling frozen foods. Mr. Ousley was merging onto the Pennyrile Parkway from exit 42 to travel southbound. Joseph R. Pounds age 44 of Reynolds Station, KY was operating a 1999 Mack flatbed tractor-trailer southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway. He was hauling construction equipment. As Mr. Ousley was merging, Mr. Pounds' tractor-trailer rear-ended Mr. Ousley's tractor-trailer. Mr. Ousley's vehicle overturned on the right shoulder of the parkway partially spilling its load. Mr. Pounds did not loose his load. The southbound lanes were closed for approximately 40 minutes. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts. No injuries were reported. Tpr. Billy Sumner investigated the crash that occurred on October 1, 2007 at 6:30 a.m. The Madisonville Fire Department, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement and the SAFE Patrol assisted at the scene.
