Update to Death Investigation in Drakesboro, KY

Date of News Release: 09/27/2007

Drakesboro, KY - On 09-27-2007, a post-mortem exam was conducted at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville on the victim, Stormie Knight. The cause of death is listed as blunt force head trauma. The investigation is continuing.

Drakesboro, KY - On 09-26-2007 at 1708 hours Kentucky State Police Post 2 was notified that a two year old female had fallen out of a vehicle, and was then run over by the vehicle at 123 Broad Street in Drakesboro. During the course of the initial investigation it was determined that Kimberly Knight and her two year old daughter Stormie Knight had been to the store and had returned home momentarily before attempting to leave again. When Kimberly pulled up into the driveway she went into the house leaving her daughter Stormie in the back seat of the vehicle in the car seat, due to the fact that she was going to be coming back out leaving momentarily. During this time it is believed that Stormie got into the front of the 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck pulling it out of gear. The truck then started rolling backwards down the driveway towards Broad Street. The truck then crossed over Broad Street going into a yard traveling through a porch striking a fence. Sometime after the vehicle crossed over Broad Street Stormie Knight was ejected out of the driver's side of the vehicle, also being run over by the vehicle. The Coroner Tony Armour pronounced the victim deceased on the scene at 1740 hours. Next of kin was notified on the scene. Autopsy will be performed sometime next date at the Medical Examiners Office in Madisonville. Investigation will continue.

Detective Jerrod Hearld, Unit 509 was assisted on the scene by Detective Bryan Whittaker, Unit 786, Sergeant Greg Jones, Unit 205, Trooper Jerry Knight, Unit 725, Trooper Brandon McPherson, Unit 678, Trooper Lloyd Ray, Unit 617, Coroners Office, Sheriffs Department, Drakesboro and Beechmont Fire Department.
