Two Vehicle Injury Collision on KY 1294 in Hopkins County

(Hopkins County) - Jerry Cox was traveling eastbound on KY 1294. Ricky Lee was also traveling eastbound behind Mr. Cox on KY 1294. Mr. Cox attempted to negotiate a right hand turn but was unable to do so successfully. Mr. Cox lost control of his motorcycle, turning it over in the middle of the roadway in front of Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee applied his brakes and steered his motorcycle in an attempt to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. Mr. Lee struck Mr. Cox causing both vehicles to exit off of the roadway where they both struck a ditch embankment. Mr. Cox's vehicle came to final rest wrapped in a barbed wire fence. Mr. Lee's vehicle came to final rest in the ditch beside the fence line. Both drivers were ejected from their motorcycles and were transported to Regional Medical Center by Med Center MES due to injuries sustained in the accident. Mr. Cox was cited for Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence of Alcohol 3rd Offense, Failure of Non-Owner to Maintain Insurance 1st Offense, Operating on Suspended or Revoked License, Failure to Comply w/ Helmet Law. Mr. Lee was cited for Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence of Alcohol 1st Offense, Failure of Non-Owner to Maintain Insurance 1st Offense, Operating on Suspended or Revoked License, Failure to Comply w/ Helmet Law.
