Stats From Post 2 For June 2007

(Madisonville, KY) - For the month of May 2007, Post 2 reports the following activity:

  • Arrested 43 Drunken Drivers
  • Issued a Total of 1,479 Citations
  • Issued 401 Speeding Citations
  • Issued 393 Seatbelt Citations
  • Issued 12 Child Restraint Citations
  • Issued 703 Courtesy Notices
  • Investigated 92 Crashes
  • Inspected 2,202 Vehicles
  • Assisted 237 Stranded Motorists
  • Answered 1,204 Criminal Complaints
  • Opened 74 Criminal Cases
  • Made 114 Criminal Arrests

**There were four (4) fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in June 2007. Four (4) people were killed as a result of the crashes. Single fatality crashes occurred in Caldwell, Crittenden, Muhlenberg and Todd Counties. One (1) victim was not wearing a seatbelt, two (2) victims were wearing seatbelts and one (1) victim was wearing a helmet.

Through June 30, 2007 twenty-five (25) people have been killed in twenty-five (25) crashes in the Post 2 District. Twelve (12) victims were not wearing seatbelts, ten (10) victims were wearing seatbelts, two (2) victims were wearing a helmet and one (1) victim was a pedestrian.

Through June 30, 2006, twenty-two (22) people had been killed in nineteen (19) crashes in the Post 2 District.

Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.

Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other safety violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.

**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
