Update to Death Investigation Near Dawson Springs, KY

(Madisonville, KY) - On Sunday, July 1, 2007 Dr. Emily Craig with the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville, KY identified the human remains as those of Rosemary Baker age 19 of Dawson Springs, KY. Ms. Baker had been reported missing since October 2006. Dr. Craig indentified the remains by using dental records. The remains of Ms. Baker were recovered at an undisclosed location near Dawson Springs, KY on Saturday, June 30, 2007. On same date, Kentucky State Police arrested Ralph Belt, age 56, of Providence, KY in connection with the discovery of the human remains. Mr. Belt was charged with murder, rape first degree and kidnapping. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police. The Dawson Springs Police Department, Dawson Springs Fire Department, Hopkins County Coroner's Office and the State Medical Examiner's Office assisted.
