Injury Crash on KY 178 in Elkton, KY

Date of News Release: 06/19/2007

Elkton, KY (Todd County) - James Barlow Jr. age 42 of Summer Shade, KY was operating a 1987 International oil truck westbound on KY 178 when the right, front tire blew. Mr. Barlow lost control of the vehicle and it exited off the right shoulder of the roadway. The truck continued to travel westbound through a field. The vehicle struck a ditch, which caused it to overturn spilling approximately 500 gallons of oil in the field. The truck came to rest on its driver's side in the field. Mr. Barlow was transported by ambulance to Logan Memorial Hospital for treatment. The two passengers in the truck, Eric Pennycuff age 22 of Glasgow, KY and William Smith age 19 of Glasgow, KY, were not injured. The truck was not equipped with seatbelts. Tpr. Nathan Knight investigated the crash that occurred on June 19, 2007 at 7:25 a.m. The Todd County Sheriff's Department, Todd County EMS and Todd County EMA assisted at the scene.
