Fatal Crash on US 41 in Trenton, KY

Trenton, KY (Todd County) - John Trice age 54 of Hopkinsville, KY was operating a 1988 Peterbilt tractor-trailer westbound on US 41 South out of Trenton. The tractor-trailer was a tanker that was hauling water. Mr. Trice turned onto KY 475 and proceeded toward the railroad tracks. For an unknown reason, Mr. Trice stopped his vehicle on the tracks. A CSX train that was empty was traveling westbound on the tracks and struck the tractor-trailer on the passenger side causing the tractor-trailer to be thrown off the tracks. Mr. Trice was flown to Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, TN where he succumbed to his injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt. No other injuries were reported. Tpr. Camileo Threatt is investigating the crash that occurred on May 9, 2007 at 7:50 a.m. The Trenton Volunteer Fire Department, Todd County EMS and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement assisted at the scene.
