Felony Arrest in Nortonville, KY

Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) - On Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at approximately 11:50 a.m., officers from the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville executed a search warrant at a barn and property located adjacent to 3745 Nortonville Road in Nortonville. Officers recovered numerous items that were stolen such as a backhoe, an ATV, a John Deere farm tractor, several trailers and a firearm. In all, officers recovered in excess of $100,000 worth of stolen property. The Kentucky State Police charged Joseph Scott Eli age 38 of Madisonville, KY with the following offenses:

  1. Receiving Stolen Property Over $300 (4 counts)
  2. Receiving Stolen Property-Firearm
  3. Obscuring the Identity of a Machine (2 counts)
  4. Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth (Firearm Enhanced)

Mr. Eli was already lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center on unrelated charges. He remains lodged there. The Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, Madisonville Police Department, Christian County Sheriff's Department, Hopkinsville Police Department and CSX Railroad assisted at the scene. More charges are pending as the investigation continues.
