Stats From Post 2 For April 2007

For the month of April 2007, Post 2 reports the following activity:
- Arrested 33 Drunken Drivers
- Issued a Total of 1,245 Citations
- Issued 377 Speeding Citations
- Issued 219 Seatbelt Citations
- Issued 6 Child Restraint Citations
- Issued 779 Courtesy Notices
- Investigated 112 Crashes
- Inspected 1,952 Vehicles
- Assisted 143 Stranded Motorists
- Answered 1,118 Criminal Complaints
- Opened 55 Criminal Cases
- Made 170 Criminal Arrests
**There were six (6) fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in April 2007. Six (6) people were killed as a result of the crashes. Two single fatality crashes occurred in Christian and Hopkins Counties. One single fatality crash occurred in Todd and Webster Counties. Five (5) victims were not wearing seatbelts and one (1) victim was wearing a helmet.
Through April 30, 2007 seventeen (17) people have been killed in seventeen (17) crashes in the Post 2 District. Ten (10) victims were not wearing seatbelts, five (5) victims were wearing seatbelts, one (1) victim was wearing a helmet and one (1) victim was a pedestrian.
Through April 30, 2006, fourteen (14) people had been killed in fourteen (14) crashes in the Post 2 District.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other safety violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.
**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
