Single Vehicle Injury Accident in Hopkins County

Richland, KY (Hopkins County) - Hopkins County Deputy Sheriff Mark A. Gentry age 37 of Dawson Springs, KY was operating a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria westbound on KY 70 approximately 1 ½ miles west of Richland when a deer entered the road and into his path of travel. Deputy Gentry was unable to avoid the deer and struck it causing him to lose control of his cruiser. The cruiser exited the roadway and struck an earth embankment. The cruiser came to rest off the roadway. Deputy Gentry was transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt. Tpr. Brain Gann investigated the crash that occurred on April 18, 2007 at 12:15 a.m. Tpr. Brandon McPherson, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, Richland Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
