Fatal Crash on West Jefferson Davis Highway in Elkton, KY

Elkton, KY (Todd County) - James W. Gordon age 80 of Elkton, KY was operating a 2005 Buick Lacrosse on West Jefferson Davis Highway. Elizabeth H. Tabor age 30 of Russellville, KY was operating a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT pickup truck eastbound on US 68/80. Mr. Gordon was attempting to make a left turn from West Jefferson Davis Highway onto US 68/80 to travel westbound. Mr. Gordon failed to yield right of way and pulled out into the path of Ms. Tabor. Ms. Tabor steered to the left to avoid Mr. Gordon's vehicle, but was unable to do so. The front of Ms. Tabor's vehicle struck the driver's side of Mr. Gordon's vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest on the roadway. The Todd County Coroner, Gerald Barnett, pronounced Mr. Gordon dead at the scene. Mr. Gordon was not wearing a seatbelt. Ms. Tabor was transported by ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Ms. Tabor was wearing a seatbelt. Tpr. Nathan Knight is investigating the crash that occurred on April 4, 2007 at 9:50 a.m. Tpr. Mark Franklin, the Elkton Police Department, Todd County Sheriff's Department, Todd County Rescue & EMS and the Todd County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
