Drug Arrest in Dawson Springs, KY

Dawson Springs, KY (Hopkins County) - On Monday, April 2, 2007 at approximately 7:50 P.M., Trooper Derek Smith observed a 2000 Lincoln Navigator traveling on Parkwood Drive in Dawson Springs with its stereo at a disruptive volume level. Tpr. Smith conducted a traffic stop on the Lincoln Navigator. The driver, Billy J. Hall age 20 of Dawson Springs, KY, was found to have drug paraphernalia on him. A search of the vehicle uncovered a small amount of methamphetamine. An open bottle of liquor was found inside the vehicle along with a handgun. Mr. Hall was arrested without incident and charged with the following offenses:
- Vehicle A Nuisance
- Failure to Wear Seatbelt
- Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle Prohibited
- Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense-Meth (Firearm Enhanced)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Offense (Firearm Enhanced)
- DUI 1st Offense
- Carrying A Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center. There were no passengers in the vehicle. Chief Bill Crider and Officer Lonnie Rogers of the Dawson Springs Police Department assisted Tpr. Smith at the scene.
