Fatal Trailer Fire in Greenville, KY

Date of News Release: 03/21/2007

Greenville, KY (Muhlenberg County) - On Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at approximately 9:21 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a call from Muhlenberg County Central Dispatch in reference to a structure fire in which there was a fatality. The location of the fire was 3780 KY 171.

The victim, Chad L. Ebling age 31 of Greenville, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner, Tony Armour. At the present time, it appears that the fire is accidental. The fire started in the kitchen area of the trailer.

An autopsy was performed this morning (3/21) at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville. The preliminary cause of death is probable smoke inhalation. Foul play is not suspected.

KSP Investigator Damon Fleming is continuing the investigation along with the State Fire Marshal's Office. The Greenville Volunteer Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, the Muhlenberg County Coroner's Office and the State Fire Marshal's Office assisted at the scene.
