Non-Injury Crash on Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 03/16/2007

Madisonville, KY (Hopkins County) - Duane Dice age 62 of Cantonment, FL was operating a 2000 Peterbilt tractor-trailer southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway at the 39 mile-marker. The vehicle was hauling power tools. Mr. Dice reached onto the floorboard to retrieve a mug of water that he had dropped. The vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway causing the trailer to overturn. The tractor became unhitched from the trailer and continued traveling upright off the right shoulder of the roadway. The crash caused mud to cover over 400 feet of the southbound lanes. Both southbound lanes of the parkway were closed for approximately 3 hours while crews worked to remove the tractor-trailer and the mud. The load did not spill. Mr. Dice was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. Tpr. Brandon McPherson investigated the crash that occurred on March 15, 2007 at 11:47 p.m. The South Hopkins Fire Department, Grapevine Fire Department, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement and the State Highway Department assisted at the scene.
