Injury Crash on KY 1034 in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 03/14/2007

(Hopkins County) - A subject was operating a 2001 Kia Optima eastbound on KY 1034 (Rose Creek Road). The vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. The driver overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed both lanes of travel and exited off the westbound side of the roadway striking an earth embankment. The vehicle became airborne and both occupants were ejected. The vehicle came to rest on its top in a ditch. Kimberly Hinton age 42 of Princeton, KY was flown to Deaconess Hospital for treatment. Jeffrey Phillips age 47 of Providence, KY was flown to St. Mary´s Hospital for treatment. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt. At the present time, it has not been determined which occupant was driving the vehicle. Tpr. Nick Rice is investigating the crash that occurred on March 14, 2007 at 10:15 a.m. Tpr. Billy Sumner, Tpr. Mike Ray, the Nebo Fire Department, Providence Fire & Rescue, Medical Center Ambulance Service, Life Flight and Air Evac assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by Tpr. Nick Rice and the Kentucky State Police.
