Injury Crash on I-24 in Caldwell County

Date of News Release: 02/28/2007

Caldwell County - Peggy Kujala age 65 of Kearney, NE was operating a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada eastbound on I-24 at the 56 mile-marker when it appears she fell asleep. The vehicle entered the median. Mrs. Kujala overcorrected and re-entered the eastbound lanes. She overcorrected again and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle re-entered the median and overturned coming to rest on its top. Mrs. Kujala and her husband, Robert Kujala age 65 of Kearney, NE, were transported by ambulance to the Caldwell County Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries. Mr. Kujala had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts. Tpr. Chris King investigated the crash that occurred on February 28, 2007 at 5:07 a.m. The Princeton Fire Department and Caldwell County EMS assisted at the scene.
