Robbery 1st Degree Investigation in Hopkins County

Mortons Gap, KY (Hopkins County) - On Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at approximately 2:01 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville received a call in reference to a robbery that occurred at the Best Western Pennyrile Inn located off of exit 37 of the Pennyrile Parkway in Mortons Gap.

A lone suspect entered the hotel lobby just before 2:00 a.m. and made contact with the night clerk. The suspect implied that he had a weapon and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on foot. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 5´ 6" and weighing around 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans and white tennis shoes. The hood on the sweatshirt was pulled up and his face was covered with a turquoise colored scarf.

Callers may remain anonymous. The investigation is continuing by KSP Det. Ben Wolcott. Tpr. Jerry Knight, Tpr. Dan Morck, the Hopkins County Sheriff´s Department and the Madisonville Police Department K-9 assisted at the scene.
