Fatal Crash on KY 272 in Christian County

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - Nell Coleman age 77 of Gracey, KY was operating a 1996 Buick Regal westbound on KY 272. Wanda Ridenour age 36 of Hopkinsville, KY was operating a 1997 Ford Expedition eastbound on US 68 By-Pass. As Ms. Coleman approached the intersection, she failed to stop at the stoplight. Ms. Coleman's vehicle entered into the eastbound lane of US 68 By-Pass and into the path of Ms. Ridenour's vehicle. Ridenour's vehicle struck Coleman's vehicle in the passenger side and both vehicles came to rest in the roadway. Ms. Coleman was transported by ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center where she was pronounced dead by the Christian County Coroner's Office. Ms. Ridenour and her two passengers, Chad Meade age 13 of Hopkinsville, KY and Blake Meade age 12 of Hopkinsville, KY, sustained minor injuries, but were not transported. All subjects were wearing seatbelts. Tpr. Mark Franklin is investigating the crash that occurred on January 29, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. The Christian County Sheriff's Department, Hopkinsville Fire Department, Christian County EMS and the Christian County Coroner's Office assisted.
