Date of News Release: 01/28/2006

(Christian County) - On 1-28-07, at approx. 0940 hours, Post 2 was notified of a burglary that had just occurred at Broadway Jewelers in Central City. Witnesses reported seeing two males in a black Chrysler vehicle fleeing the scene. Several KSP Units responded toward the complaint. Tpr. Darren Holliman located the vehicle near Post on the Wendell Ford Parkway, and observed the passenger throwing items from the window as he attempted to catch up to the vehicle. Tpr. Holliman and Lt. Hill stopped the vehicle at the exit ramp to the Pennyrile. One piece of tagged jewelry was in plain sight inside the vehicle. The occupants, Ronnie R. Moss and Leslie Johnson Jr., both of Hopkinsville, were taken into custody. Tprs. Nick Rice, Craig Engler, and Nathan Knight located the boxes thrown from the vehicle and recovered 15-20,000.00 of stolen jewelry. Central City Police Department is handling the burglary complaint, and responded to the location with the property owner. Tpr. Holliman transported both suspects to Post and, together with Central City Officers, was able to obtain a full confession from one. All property was returned to the owner.

Tpr. Holliman and Tpr. Rice charged both suspects with Receiving Stolen Property Over 300 and lodged them in the Hopkins County Detention Center. Central City Officers are charging both suspects with Burglary 3rd in Muhlenberg County. Tpr. Billy Sumner also assisted at the scene.
