Fatal Crash on KY 670 in Webster County

(Madisonville, KY) - Mr. Samuel Franklin was eastbound on KY 670, just inside the city limits of Providence, KY. Simultaneously, Mrs. Teresa Stone was westbound on KY 670 near the city limits. For an undetermined reason, Mr. Franklin's vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of travel of Mrs. Stone's vehicle. The vehicles collided partially in the travel portion of the roadway, in a head-on manner. Mr. Franklin and his passengers sustained various injuries ranging from minor to serious in nature. Each were transported to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY, for treatment. Mrs. Stone's passengers also sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. They too, were transported to RMC for treatment. Mrs. Stone sustained multiple major injuries as a result of the collision. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Webster County Coroner as a result of those injuries. The highway was shut down for approximately six hours while the investigators conducted the initial investigation. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Corey King and Sergeant Jason Kirk.
