Stats From Post 2 For December 2006

For the month of December 2006, Post 2 reports the following activity:
- Arrested 43 Drunken Drivers
- Issued a Total of 1,534 Citations
- Issued 663 Speeding Citations
- Issued 166 Seatbelt Warnings
- Issued 6 Child Restraint Citations
- Issued 869 Courtesy Notices
- Investigated 84 Crashes
- Inspected 2,421 Vehicles
- Assisted 157 Stranded Motorists
- Answered 1,086 Criminal Complaints
- Opened 79 Criminal Cases
- Made 175 Criminal Arrests
There were three (3) fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in December 2006. Three (3) people were killed as a result of the crashes. Single fatality crashes occurred in Caldwell, Christian and Muhlenberg Counties. None of the victims was wearing a seatbelt.
**Through December 31, 2006 forty-eight (48) people have been killed in forty (40) crashes in the Post 2 District. Twenty-eight (28) victims were not wearing seatbelts, six (6) victims were not wearing a helmet, nine (9) victims were wearing a seatbelt, three (3) victims were pedestrians and the seatbelt status of two (2) victims is unknown.
Through December 31, 2005, forty-eight (48) people had been killed in forty-five (45) crashes in the Post 2 District.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.
**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
