Death Investigation in West Plains, KY

Date of News Release: 12/19/2007

(WEST PLAINS, KY) On 12-18-2007 Kentucky State Police responded to a report of a shooting on Wayne Freeman Road in the West Plains community of Graves County. At approximately 6:00 PM Joseph Clark, 33 of West Plains, arrived at his home on Wayne Freeman Road. Mr. Clark was accompanied by a female acquaintance. When the two arrived, they where confronted by a second male who was waiting at the residence. After confronting Mr. Clark inside of the home, the male produced a gun and shot Joseph Clark, killing him. After shooting Mr. Clark, the shooter then turned the gun on himself and took his own life. The female acquaintance of Joseph Clark immediately dialed 911 to report the shooting. The Kentucky State Police quickly arrived at the scene and began conducting an investigation into the shooting. Due to pending notification of family members, the shooter's name can not be released at this time. The investigation is continuing by Detective Barry Rice with the Kentucky State Police. The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Graves County Sheriff's office and the Graves County coroner.
