Drug Arrest in Graves County

(MAYFIELD, KY) On November 26, 2007 at approximately 6:20 A.M., Troopers T.J. Williams and David Archer stopped to assist a commercial vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway, off KY Highway 80, near Mayfield in Graves County. After speaking to the driver, Mr. Mikey Keyse, Jr. (36) of Kuttawa, the Troopers detected suspicious activity and investigated further. A subsequent search of this commercial vehicle and its contents by the Troopers and KSP canine "Rex", revealed approximately eleven (11) pounds (i.e. 5 kilograms) of suspected cocaine concealed within the cargo of the commercial vehicle. The driver, Mr. Keyse was arrested and charged with the following two (2) offenses: (1) Violation of Part 395, Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations-Hours of Service for Drivers violation; and (2) Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, First Degree, First Offense (cocaine). Mr. Keyse was lodged in the Graves County Jail. The estimated street-value of the seized contraband is $500,000. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police.
