Injury Collision on West KY Pkwy in Lyon County

(Mayfield, KY.) - Charles Sampson, 79 year old male from Franklin KY, was injured in an early morniung crash while exiting the West KY Pkwy. Sampson lost control of his 1995 Blazer attempting to negotiate the ramp onto east bound I-24. Sampson struck a guard rail before leaving the ramp and traveling several hundred feet, striking a drainage ditch. The Blazer continued forward, crossing both the east and west bound lanes of I-24, striking the west bound shoulder guard rail. The vehicle came to final rest on the interstate. Sampson was wearing a seat belt, and suffered facial lacerations. Speed and lack of control were contributing factors. He was transported to Caldwell hospital. The crash was investigated by KSP crash reconstructionist C.G. Anderson.
