Fleeing and Evading Arrest in Graves County

An image of Derek Brown, click here to enlarge(Mayfield, KY) - While on routine patrol, Tpr James Green observed a blue 1986 Ford pickup traveling at a high rate of speed. Tpr Green attempted to stop the vehicle when it failed to yield to his emergeny equipment. After leading officers on an approximate 15 mile pursuit, the driver, 24 year old Derek Brown of Mayfield attempted to exit his vehicle while it was still in motion. While exiting the vehicle Brown became in direct path of Tpr Greens cruiser, causing Tpr Green to use evasive maneuvers subsequently causing him to collide with a road sign and coming to final rest in a ditch. Brown then fled on foot.

The passenger, Travis Fletcher was taken into custody and charged outstanding warrants for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance within 1000 yards of a school and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Derek Brown was last seen on foot in the area of KY 129 in the Dukedom Community in South Graves County. He was last seen wearing a blue dress shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police at 800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state) or 270-856-3721. Graves County Sheriffs Department and Weakley County Tn Sheriffs Department assisted Kentucky State Police at the scene.
