Injury Crash on I-24 in Marshall County

(Mayfield, KY) - Kentucky State Police reported a minor injury accident that resulted in the west bound lanes of Interstate 24 being temporarily closed. Scott W. Lane stated that he was exiting south bound on the Purchase Parkway to proceed westbound on Interstate 24 prior to the collision. Mr. Lane stated the he took the ramp too quickly and dropped off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle proceeded into the gore while rotating clockwise. The tires on Mr. Lane's vehicle caught on the edge of the pavement causing Mr. Lane's vehicle to tip over onto its driver side. Mr. Lane's vehicle then slid west bound on the Interstate coming to final rest in the center of the right hand lane.

Mr. Lane sustained minor injuries but refused transport. Trooper Sales was assisted on the scene by Sgt. Lewie Dodd, Trooper Donald Crawford, the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, and the Gilbertsville Fire Department. The Interstate was reopened after a period of 45 minutes.
