Injury Crash on KY 97 in Graves County

Date of News Release: 05/24/2007

(Mayfield, KY) - Barry D Turner was attempting to make a left turn northbound onto KY 97 and turned directly into the path of James L Shankle. Vehicles collided in the northbound lane of travel on KY 97 and came to final rest in a ditch on the east side of the roadway. The driver of Mr. Turner was transported by EMS to JPMC then later transported to Vanderbilt for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. Mr. Shankle was transported by private vehicle to JPMC for treatment. Mr. Shankle was carrying building supplies and the load spilled as a result of the collision. The road was then closed for 7 hours for clean up. Trooper Gregory was assisted by Trooper Mark Sallin, The Graves County Sheriff's Department, Mayfield Graves County EMS, Graves County Rescue Squad, and the Cuba Fire Department.
