Trafficking in Controlled Substance Arrests in Hickman County

(Mayfield, KY.) - In a joint investigation including the Kentucky State Police, McCracken County Sheriff's Department, Hickman County Sheriff's Department and the Pennyrile Drug Task Force arrested a Juvenile (name withheld), Sherka N. Fitts, Piere D. Haynes, and Leslie A. Dunn in the late hours of Friday night to early Saturday morning. Undercover officers purchased crack cocaine from the juvenile. Officers witnessed the juvenile obtaining the narcotics from Ms. Fitts and another female nearby. After officers made the purchase, officers arrested the juvenile and Ms. Fitts and a third party fled on foot into nearby woods.

Officers obtained information from bystanders about the female that fled. This information led officers to another apartment within the Clinton Hill Apartment Complex. When officers knocked on the door, Piere D. Haynes answered the door with a handful of crack cocaine. Mr. Haynes was arrested after a struggle. A search warrant was obtained for the apartment which revealed more illegal drugs.

Leslie A. Dunn and her infant child were also in the apartment with Mr. Haynes. Because of the dangerous drugs that were within reach of the child Ms. Dunn was charged with Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree.

Detective Michael Williams said, "It was quite a surprise to us, and to Mr. Haynes, when he opened the door with a hand full of crack cocaine."

The Juvenile was charged with Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense and was released to parents. Sherka N. Fitts was charged with Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense and was lodged in the Fulton County Jail. Piere D. Haynes was charged with Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Offense, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Resisting Arrest and was lodged in the Hickman County Jail. Leslie A. Dunn was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Offense, and Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree and was lodged in the Fulton County Jail.

A total of approximately 1 ounce of crack cocaine was recovered from this investigation with a street value of $1000.00 The investigation continues with the Kentucky State Police, McCracken County Sheriff's Department, Hickman County Sheriff's Department and the Pennyrile Drug Task Force.
