A Raid Yeilds the Arrest of Three Wanted Subjects

Date of News Release: 03/13/2007

(Eddyville, KY) - A raid conducted by Lyon County Sheriff Kent Murphy and members of the Kentucky State police today resulted in the arrest of fugitive Christopher Turner and his girlfriend Shelli McPherson.

An anonymous tip called into the Sheriff's office led investigators to a secluded residence in Driftwood Estates, located approximately 15 miles south of Eddyville. The tipster advised that an escapee from the Montgomery County Regional Jail was hiding out in a trailer in the lakes area of Lyon County.

Sheriff Murphy, accompanied by Trooper Chris Smith and Trooper 1st Class C. G. Anderson raided the trailer and located fugitive Turner. He was wanted out of Menifee County on an escape warrant, as well as a burglary and persistent felony offender charge. According to arrest warrants, McPherson allegedly picked up Turner from a work release detail in Montgomery County, but Turner failed to return when scheduled. McPherson was arrested on a complicity to facilitate escape charge. A resident of the trailer, Tonya Ballard, was also arrested on multiple criminal possession of forged check warrants and an outstanding flagrant nonsupport warrant from Bath County, KY.

All subjects were lodged in the Caldwell County jail.

Investigation continues with the Kentucky State Police.
