State Police and Social Services, Sharon and Milton Sheets of Beaver Dam were charged with Criminal Abuse 1st degree and Theft by Deception O/$300. Since September of 2005 the Sheets' lead people to believe their 10-year-old son had cancer and other illnesses and were collecting money from several churches and citizens of Ohio County. It is believed the Sheets' received over $12,000 from individuals and fundraisers given by churches in the county. Several citizens of Ohio Co. reported seeing the Sheet's son appearing healthy one day and very sick on other days. It was reported from witnesses that the Sheet's son would be seen jumping on a trampoline the day after having brain surgery. Tpr. Critchelow said it is believed An image of Milton Sheets, click here to enlargethe Sheets may have been over-medicating their son in order to make him appear sick. The investigation revealed that in December of 2006 people were told the Sheets' son had stage 4 cancer and needed emergency surgery in Seattle, Washington. Money was given to the Sheet's for this trip. It was discovered instead of the Sheets going to Washington State, they spent a week on the beach in Daytona, Florida.

After interviewing several people in the community, Tpr. Critchelow said most people were devastated. Most people said it wasn't the loss of the money that upset them, it was the emotion, prayers and worry over the 10 year-old-boy's well being that upset them. Tpr. Critchelow said the sad part is, all the money raised could have benefited someone else that may have actually needed it

Hammond Indiana Police, from warrants taken by Tpr. Critchelow arrested the Sheets' in Hammond, IN. last Thursday. The Sheets were brought back to Kentucky on Jan. 29th to face charges in Ohio Co.
