Hazardous Device Found in Adair County

(Columbia, KY) - At approximately 8:20pm Monday night, the Kentucky State Police Post in Columbia received a call that a male subject was at the Taylor County Regional Hospital threatening to blow himself up with a pipe bomb. It was determined that the subject did not have a bomb on him and told hospital authorities the bomb was in a garage at his residence located 21 miles north of Columbia on Speck Ridge Road.
After KSP units arrived at the suspect's residence, further investigation by K-9 Unit Ricky Underwood and canine Rico, alerted on one pipe bomb located in the garage of the suspect's residence. After further investigation by units another device was located within the general location of the first device. Both devices contained a pyrotechnical filler and were secured. The suspect has not been taken into police custody at this time, the investigation continues.
Det. Wesley was assisted at the scene by Senior Trooper Greg Brown, ATF Agent Dean Clark, KSP Hazardous Device Units, the Taylor County and Adair County Sheriff''s Department, Knifley Fire Department, Taylor County Fire Department, and Campbellsville/Taylor County Rescue.
