Update to the Murder Investigation and Wanted Suspect in Marion County

Date of News Release: 05/25/07

(Columbia, KY) - In reference to the murder that occurred in Raywick, KY on 5/24/07 . The victim has been identified as Kelly Sue Gaddie age 49 of Raywick, KY.

After the initial call KSP Officers remained in the area and around 6:19 pm KSP received a call that Darrell Schagene had returned to his residence in Raywick. Around 6:33 pm KSP Officers from the Columbia Post surrounded the home and attempted to make contact with Schagene for several hours. At approximately 10:00 pm KSP Special Response Team entered the residence and found the accused Darrell Schagene deceased from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound.

Autopsy will be conducted today (5/25/07) in Louisville to determine the exact cause of death for both the victim Kelly Sue Gaddie and the accused Darrell Schagene.

(Columbia, KY) - Around 1:19 hours eastern standard time on May 24th, the Lebanon Police Department notified the Columbia Post about a shooting at 980 Head Distillery Road, Raywick, Kentucky in Marion County. Around 1:45 hours, KSP Officers arrived on the scene and found a deceased white female.

Suspect in this shooting is Darrell Lee Schagene, white male, age 50, 5'10", and is 200 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. Suspect was last seen operating a blue or bluish-green 1995 Buick Century with Kentucky license plate 669BCX.

Suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
