Injury Crash and Arrest in Adair County

Date of News Release: 03/11/07

(Columbia, KY) - Accident occurred 5 miles North of Columbia at the Jct of Cane Valley Road and Beech Top Road @ 5:50PM.

28 yr old Joey D. Breeding of Columbia was traveling North on Cane Valley Road at a high rate of speed in a 1993 Ford Truck. He lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and three unoccupied parked vehicles. Breeding fled the scene of the accident.

Nicholas Murray, age 23 of Columbia was a passenger in Breeding's vehicle, he was not wearing his seatbelt, admitted to Westlake Regional Hospital.

Breeding was later located, arrested, and charged with speeding 26mph or more over the speed limit, driving too fast for traffic conditions, careless driving, failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seatbelt, possession of open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited, DUI 1st-aggravating circumstance, and leaving the scene of an accident (additional charges are pending). Breeding was lodged in the Adair County Jail.
