Felony Arrest in Greenup County
(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Lewis County resident yesterday in connection with the theft of a 2002 Chevrolet Impala owned by Caroline Smith of Greenup, KY. Smith reported her vehicle stolen from her residence around 0800 hours on June 10th, 2007. Trooper Tanner responded and investigated the theft. Approximately one hour later, Tanner received a report that a man was lying in the roadway on KY 784. Upon arrival, Tanner discovered Michael Wayne Flanery lying beside the roadway on Shultz Ridge off KY 784. Tanner had developed Flanery as a suspect in the theft of the vehicle and subsequently developed enough evidence to charge Flanery with the theft of the vehicle as well as the other drug related charges. Trooper Tanner was also able to locate the stolen vehicle approximately one mile from where Flanery was located.
Flanery was taken into custody and lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center
Trooper Tanner is still investigating the incident.
