Letcher County Death Investigation

(Hazard, KY) - On Saturday, December 15, 2007 at approximately 12:10 p.m. Kentucky State Police Post in Hazard was notified of a gunshot wound victim on a strip mine located in the Roxanna Community of Letcher County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, 14 year old Ryan Cantrall of Ashcamp, Ky, was hunting with his step-father and another subject. The victim fell in mud and accidentally discharged his rifle inflicting a fatal wound. The Letcher County Coroner Pronounced the subject deceased at the scene and the investigation is continuing by Det. Dean Craft.
