Single Vehicle Accident Claims One Life In Letcher County

(Hazard, KY) - On 09/30/2007 at approximately 2:57 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a 911 call of a single vehicle accident in the Fleming Neon community of Letcher County.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a passenger car had ran off the highway, struck a utility pole and overturned. The car was occupied by Tammy Baker, Jason Robinson, Douglas Mark Baker Jr., Ricky Dingus and Greg Ratliff. The operator of the vehicle, Tammy Baker age 32, and a passenger, Greg Ratliff age 48, were transported to Jenkins Hospital for treatment. Ricky Dingus, age 25, was air lifted to Holston Valley Medical Center, Douglas Mark Baker age 35, fled the scene of the accident and the Letcher County Coroner pronounced Jason Robinson deceased at the scene. The passengers Ratliff, Robinson, and Dingus were all ejected from the vehicle. Seat belts were not in use at the time of the accident.
