Shelby County Pursuit & DUI Arrest

(Frankfort, KY) - On Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 8:25 PM, Tpr. Hunter Martin was responding to a call for services when he drove upon a two vehicle injury collision on I-64 at the 32 mile marker in Shelby County.

Tpr. Martin exited his cruiser to investigate the collision when Allen W. Chambers Jr., fled the collision scene in his wrecked vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled west bound on I-64 onto exit 32 where he lost control and struck another motor vehicle. He attempted to flee a second time in his wrecked vehicle when he was tased and taken into custody.

Occupants of both vehicles were transported to the Jewish Shelbyville Hospital for Medical treatment.

Allen W. Chambers Jr. of Lawrenceburg was charged with, two counts of Assault 2nd, three counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st, three counts of Criminal Mischief 1st, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st, DUI 2nd, Operating on a Suspended Operators License, Open Container, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.

Kentucky State Police Post 12 Frankfort was assisted by the Shelbyville Police Department and Shelby County Sheriffs Office. Investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police.
