Stewart Home School Fire

(Frankfort, KY) - On Monday, November 5, 2007 at 6:58 PM, the Franklin County Dispatch received a 911 call that a horse barn at the Stewart Home School was on fire. Upon arrival the Franklin County Fire Department found a horse barn fully engulfed. Seven therapeutic horses died in the fire. Employees of the Stewart Home School saved one horse from the fire. The Stewart Home School is a place for intellectually disabled people of all ages.

The investigation shows that a lighting strike caused the fire. Detective Kevin Dunn Kentucky State Police Post 12 Arson Investigator is conducting a fire investigation. The Franklin County Fire Department, State Fire Marshall, Kentucky State Police Post 12 Troopers and Arson Investigator responded to the fire.
