Law Enforcement Agencies Team Up For Saturated Patrol

(Frankfort, KY) - On July 7, 2007 at approximately 8:00 p.m. continuing until after 2:00 a.m. on July 8, 2007, several law enforcement agencies combined to hold a combined safety and traffic enforcement detail in Spencer, Shelby and Henry Counties. Designated "Blue Lights Over Central Kentucky," the program included road patrols and safety checkpoints that focused on violations of both traffic and criminal laws.

Twenty-seven officers of the, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Shelbyville Police Department, Spencer County Sheriff's Office and Taylorsville Police department combined to arrest ten people for Driving Under the Influence and eighteen for drug offenses. In addition to these, there were eleven seat belt violations, seventy-five traffic citations and sixty-one courtesy notices issued.

"The cooperation of all the agencies involved contributed greatly to the success of this operation," said KSP Commissioner Jack Adams. "I commend all the officers and agencies who participated in this worthwhile effort to make the roads safer for the citizens of the Commonwealth."
