Shelby County Cruelty to Animal 2nd Investigation

(Frankfort, KY ) - On Thursday, February 01, 2007 the Shelby County Animal Shelter contacted Post 12 Frankfort and reported cruelty to animals involving horses. Tpr. Ed Logan and the Shelby County Animal Shelter went to an address on Fisherville Road in Shelby County and located several dead and malnourished horses. A Rocky Mountain, Tennessee Walker and a Thorobred were found dead. Three other horses were found malnourished, being kept in unclean stalls and in needed care.

Donald W. Buckler age 48 of New Castle, KY. was cited to Shelby County District Court on six counts on Cruelty to Animal 2nd (Class A Misdemeanor).

A veterinary assisted Kentucky State Police in identify seven additional horses that were malnourished and being kept in unclean stalls and in needed care.

On Friday, February 09, 2007 at 10:15 AM, Kentucky State Police arrested Donald W. Buckler on seven new charges of Cruelty to Animal 2nd . Mr. Buckler is facing a total of thirteen counts. Investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police.
