Fatal Crash on US 27 in McCreary County

(LONDON, KY) - On Friday June 08, 2007 at approximately 11:20 AM the Kentucky State Police Post 11 London received a report of a two- (2) vehicle traffic crash, with injury, on US 27 in McCreary County, KY. Upon arrival Trooper Philip Hayes determined that unit two, a white 1991 Buick Sentry, driven by Florence A. Marler, 45, of Whitley City, was slowing or stopped in the southbound lane of US 27 preparing to make a left turn, onto KY 592, when it was struck in the rear by unit one. Marler, who was extricated from her vehicle, received fatal injuries during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCreary Coroner Jimmy Waters. Unit one a blue, 2003 Buick, LeSabre, driven by Claude E. Davis, 56, of Madison, TN was southbound on US 27 when it struck unit two in the rear. Davis, who was extricated from his vehicle, was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center and is in stable condition. Trooper Hayes was assisted at the scene by the McCreary County Sheriff's Office, the McCreary County EMS, the Pine Knot Volunteer Fire Department and the McCreary County Coroners Office.
