Arrest in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY) - On February 28, 2007 at approximately 12 AM Trooper Bill Elliotte and Trooper Don Sivils were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on American Greeting Card Road in Laurel County when a 2005 Hummer H2 approached the officers at a high rate of speed. The Hummer narrowly missed the officers and briefly came to a stop. The operator then accelerated in an attempt to flee the officers. The Hummer was stopped a short distance away and the operator, Jimmy L. Vance, 65, of Corbin was arrested and charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1ST Degree, Two (2) counts of Wanton Endangerment 1ST, DUI 1ST Offense and Reckless Driving. Vance was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Trooper Bill Elliotte continues the investigation.
