Trooper Jerome "Butch" Clifton Sign to be Unveiled

(DWALE, KY) On Friday, July 28, 2006, Lt Colonel Joe West, Major Lisa Rudzinski, Senator Ray Jones, members of the Kentucky State Police and family will be on hand for the unveiling of signs naming the Dwale Bridge on US 23 for Trooper Jerome "Butch" Clifton. The bridge is being named in honor and memory of Trooper Clifton who was killed in the line of duty in 1980.

This roadway is being named as a result of passage of senate bill 18 by the 2002 Kentucky General Assembly and was signed into law on March 20, 2002.

The ceremony will be held at the Woodmen of the World Conference room on US 23 just north of the Dwale bridge and will begin at 1:30 p.m.

The family, Troopers and KSP command staff members will be available for interviews following the ceremonies.

From Pikeville
Go north on US23 through the Ky 1428 US 23 junction at Allen.
Just past the Dwale turnoff Woodmen of the World will be on the left side of the road.
Due to the concrete median barrier you will have to continue north past the barrier and turn around.
The entrance will be then be on your right.

From Prestonsburg
Go south on US 23 past the Ky 80 off ramp
After topping the hill
The entrance will be on your right .
