Fatal Crash on US 119 in Pike County, KY

(Pikeville, Ky.) - On June 7, 2006 at approximately 7:05 am Kentucky State Police Post 9-Pikeville received a call regarding a two vehicle collision on US 119 south of the Zebulon community of Pike County.

Ronald Scott II, 23 yoa of Phelps Ky, was operating a 2001 Western Star semi trailer traveling south on US 119 on an uphill grade when Sherman D Gunnels, 44 yoa of Ransom, KY drove his 1995 Saturn into the rear of the semi trailer.

Gunnels was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Russel Roberts.

The collision is still under investigation by Detective Eddie Crum with the assistance of KVE Officer Keith Justice.
