Kentucky State Police Honors Fallen Troopers

(Pikeville, Ky.) - May 14 through May 20 has been declared as National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Week. Pikeville Post 9 honors its fallen Troopers.
Kentucky State Police Honor Guard at Post 9 placed flowers on the grave of Fallen Trooper Jerome "Butch" Clifton. Clifton is one of four Troopers that have been killed in the line of duty at the Pikeville Post. Clifton died as a result of gunshot wounds suffered on September 16, 1980, while attempting to arrest a shooting suspect in Pike County. Clifton is the only one of the four that is interned inside the Post 9 area.
The other fallen Troopers include:
Trooper Elmer Mobley, Jr died in a vehicle accident while enroute to answer a call for assistance in Pike County.
Trooper Cecil W. Uzzle died in a vehicle accident while en route for assistance in Pike County.
Trooper Bobby McCoun died of gunshot wounds in Pike County.
"This is only a small token of our appreciation for the dedication, commitment and supreme sacrifice given by these Fallen Troopers" stated Captain Jim Booth - Post 9 Commander.
