Collision With Injuries Involving Two Clark County Deputy Sheriff's

(RICHMOND, KY) - On 10/29/2006 at 0019 hours, troopers of the Kentucky State Police Post 7 Richmond responded to a collision with injuries on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway in Clark County. The collision involved two Clark County Deputy Sheriff's. Preliminary investigation reveals that the deputies were responding towards the Clark/Powell County Line in an attempt to locate a vehicle that was possibly involved in an earlier shooting in Wolfe County. The deputies were responding in seperate vehicles. While enroute Deputy Ricky Estes stopped to offer assistance to a motorist whose vehicle was broken down and was struck from the rear by the vehicle being operated by Deputy Troy Thompson. Both deputies were flown to the University Of Kentucky Medical Center. Both are in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Clark County EMS and the Clark County Fire Department responded to the scene. The collision remains under investigation by detective Chris Short and Trooper Starlin Hacker.
