Injury Crash Involving A Kentucky State Trooper

Date of News Release: 04/25/2006

(RICHMOND, KY) - Trooper Stuart Adams was responding to a complaint of a combative male subject called in by Madison County EMS. Trooper Adams was responding to the complaint with his emergency equipment activated. Trooper Adams came upon a vehicle which failed to yield right of way. Trooper Adams was forced to attempt to pass the vehicle in the center lane of a three lane street. While completing his pass, the vehicle operated by William Miller of Richmond, Kentucky abruptly swerved left, nearly striking Trooper Adams' SP. Trooper Adams took evasive action to avoid collision. Driver side tires of the SP struck a curb on the southbound shoulder of Goggins Lane causing Trooper Adams to lose control, strike a culvert, and overturn several times before coming to final rest.

Trooper Adams was transported by Madison County EMS to Pattie A. Clay Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Scene was diagramed by Post 7 Reconstructionists Detective Chris Short Unit 962 and Detective Mike Stotts Unit 743. Investigation is continuing by Sgt. Joel Woods Unit 133.
