Fatal Train Versus Vehicle Crash in Grant County

(Grant County, KY) - The Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a passenger car and a freight train in Dry Ridge. At 9:50 A.M. KSP Dry Ridge received a call advising of a collision at the crossing of the Norfolk and Southern railway tracks and Lemon-Northcutt Road. Investigation has determined that a vehicle driven by Tonya R. Taylor, 41, of Dry Ridge, KY crossed the tracks into the path of a southbound freight train. The collision fatally injured Ms. Taylor seriously injured her two-year-old passenger identified as Emily Taylor. Emily was airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital and remains in serious condition as of 1230 P.M.
Trooper Aaron Beighle is leading the investigation and was assisted on scene by the Grant County Sheriff's Office, Dry Ridge Fire Department and the Grant County Coroner.
